Modulation Based on a Simple MDS Code: Achieving Better Error Performance Than Index Modulation and Related Schemes

In this paper, we propose two novel modulation concepts based on a simple maximum distance separable (MDS) code and show that these can achieve better error performance than index (IM) related schemes. the first concept, use amplitude phase levels to form MDS code, whereas, in second one, in-phase quadrature components of codeword elements are used construct code. We depict practical schemes for using proposed with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). analyze terms minimum Euclidean bit rate. also techniques exhibit desirable properties such as efficient low-complexity detection, very bits-to-symbols, symbols-to-bits mappings, when compared OFDM-IM More importantly, contrary vast majority IM studies focus showing superiority against conventional techniques, well-known while exhibiting structure
